Dancing Bear Farm

img1Dancing Bear Farm is located in the town of Leyden, Massachusetts. On the border of Vermont, we are in the foothills of the Green Mountains, at about 1200 feet. The farm is 17 acres of hay, pasture, fields, ponds and trees. After more than 40 years of organic growing, I have decided it is time to scale back and make life simpler. I will still be growing figs and fig trees for sale, but other crops will be for home use. It has been a great pleasure to have been a part of so many of your meals, at resturants, farmer's markets or grocery stores. You will still find our figs at area resturants, select stores and here at the farm.

The first major change customers will notice is no plant sale. While fig trees will be available statring in mid-May, the wide selection of heirloom tomatoes and other starter plants will not be available.

Over the next few weeks I'll be updating the website to reflect our new status. Until then, please Bear with us. If you have any questions, Please drop us an email.

In 2008 we started growing fig trees in one of the greenhouses. We now have 7 fig trees planted in the ground in the greenhouse and hundreds in pots for sale and outside production.

Our goal is to produce high quality food while being a steward of the land. From our start back in 1981 we have grown by traditional, organic methods. No “chemical” fertilizers, pesticides, nor herbicides have ever been used on our farm and never will be. While we have chosen to no longer pursue organic certification, we have always used organic methods and we always will.

We invite you to browse around the site to find out more about us. You’ll find lots of pictures, a few movies and some "How tos". If you have any questions, please contact us.
